North River Swim Team

2019 Fall Swim Team

Registration is now open for our 2019 Fall Swim Team. The Season Runs Tuesday, September 3rd - Wednesday, October 30th and is held at the River Wilderness Golf & Country Club pool. Tryouts will also take place at the River Wilderness Golf & Country Club pool. Stay up to date with everything we are doing on our Facebook page.


All interested participants must sign up for and attend one of the team tryouts. There is no fee to tryout for the swim club.

Swim team tryout will determine group placement.
  • Ripple: Mon/Wed 5PM-5:30PM
  • Splash: Mon/Wed 5PM-5:45PM
  • Waves: Mon/Wed 5:45PM-6:45PM
  • Rapids: Mon/Tues/Wed 5:45PM-7:00PM

Season Pricing

No Registration Fees! 10% Discount for River Wilderness Country Club Members (Must provide ID number for verification). 10% Multiple Child Discount. Each child who is new to the program will receive one free team swim cap and team t-shirt.

  • Stefanie Larsen

    Stefanie grew up in Ohio and started swimming at the age of nine. She swam year round and still does now on the Clearwater Masters Team. She swam for Hiram College where she earned a bachelors degree in Communications in 2007. Over the years she has coached numerous teams and taught swimming in several states including Ohio, California, Georgia and Florida. Her love for swimming comes from her mother who was a coach for 26 years. She is currently a full time working mom of 4 and loves to spend time with her family. She is looking forward to an awesome season and helping children fall in love with the sport of swimming like she has.

  • Zach Maibach

    Zach grew up in New Jersey, where he graduated from Jackson Memorial High school in 2017. Zach played four years of Soccer, Lacrosse and was on the swim team. He was a varsity swimmer for 3 years specializing in the butterfly, and competed in Counties and Regionals. Zach is currently a student at SCF majoring in Biotechnology Science. He has been a lifeguard for over 3 years and currently works for the Manatee YMCA. Zach became a certified scuba diver in 2013 with dives all over Florida and the Caribbean. Zach is happy to have the opportunity to coach for the North River Swim Team and looks forward to assisting young swimmers with their technique as well as an enthusiasm for swimming.

  • Steve Munyer

    Steve Munyer was a competitive swimmer and has been teaching swimming for over 25 years. He is a USA Level 2 certified swim coach and works full-time for Manatee County Parks & Recreation. Steve is excited to assist with the North River Rapids this season and use his years of experience to help swimmers improve their stroke technique.

  • Matt Polk

    Matt grew up Florida and has been swimming competitively for many years with various teams, including the Sarasota YMCA Sharks and Lakewood Ranch High School. He has instructed swim lessons for over 10 years and has worked with all levels of ability, from first time swimmers to Olympic Trials qualifiers. Matt has previously coached for year round competitive swim teams and earned a level 2 USA Swimming coaching certification. He was also the Head Swimming and Diving Coach for Lakewood Ranch High School for several seasons, where the team won numerous County, District, and Regional Championships, and produced individual State Champions. Matt recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Business. He looks forward to utilizing his extensive swimming background to assist in the coaching and development of swimmers for the North River Swim Team.

  • Kane Rigney

    Kane Rigney is originally from Melbourne, Australia and began swimming at the age of four. He joined the “Aqua Bears” swim team at age seven and continued to swim competitively throughout high school, qualifying for State competitions as an individual and medley butterfly swimmer. Kane’s three children were team members of the 2018 North River Rapids Swim Team where Kane volunteered as an assistant coach for the Fall season. Kane became a certified open water SCUBA diver in 2002 and has had the opportunity to dive all over the world. Kane graduated from Deakin University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and spent just over 10 years working with Florida Fish and Wildlife studying manatees. He is very excited for the opportunity to share his love for the water and to coach and develop the skills of the swimmers for the North River Rapids Swim Team.
